Overview
If you run payroll through Cost & Compensation, you can now pay each mover on their own Crew Hours, rather than on the job timesheet that’s billed to your customer and shared by the whole crew.
A cost item can read one mover’s drive, work, waiting, break, or total hours on a job, priced per mover position, and it’s added to every mover on every job automatically.
When a mover’s Crew Hours change, their pay changes with them, so you no longer have to work out payroll by hand outside Supermove.
It’s available on project types that use Crew Hours.
Navigating to the Module
In the Add Cost Item drawer on the Other tab, set Type to Per Variable. The Variable dropdown now has a User Variables section after Project Variables and Job Variables. A job variable reads the job timesheet, which the whole crew shares, while a user variable reads one mover’s own hours on that job’s Crew Hours:
- User Timesheet Work Hours (counts waiting time as work)
- User Timesheet Drive Hours
- User Timesheet Waiting Hours
- User Timesheet Break Hours
- User Timesheet Total Hours (leaves out breaks and includes the mover’s adjustments)
When you pick one, Format is set to $/qty. If you check Auto apply to project, the drawer warns you that it will create a cost item for each mover on every job in a project. User variables appear only here, never in billing, so payroll hours never reach your customer’s bill.
Configuring the Settings
You price a crew hours cost item per mover position on the Other tab, the same way you price compensation today, so you can pay a Driver and a Helper different rates for the same drive time. Use a per-person override to set a different rate for one mover. There’s no General Cost, because hours only mean something for a specific mover, so that column shows a dash, and the item never lands in a project’s Other Costs.
Viewing on a Project
On a project, the Additional Costs table lists one row per crew hours cost item and job, and each mover’s column shows their rate and their total for that job. The Qty column reads Varies, because each mover is paid on their own hours. Hover over it to see which hours the row reads. When you edit a mover’s Crew Hours on the job, in the Office App or the Crew App, their cost updates automatically. A mover with no position on a job gets no item for that job.
